| Home Buyers: Is now the time to make the move?
Turn on the television at any given time and you immediately need to grab the prozac bottle out of your medicine cabinet. Everywhere you turn—gloom, doom and a downturn in the economy are the lead stories. However there are a few optimists left in the world and I must confess I am one of them. I am one of those that see a sunrise instead of a sunset and the glass is half full instead of half empty. So therefore Lyons Team Realtors and I refuse to participate in the downturn. So what can this mean to you the homebuyer? In a recent article in the Roanoke Times, it was stated that the average home price dropped seven percent (7%) in 2008. Now you may ask this optimist: How is this a sunrise? Let’s say you currently own a home that was valued in 2007 at $150,000. If you sold your home now for seven percent less you would sell your home for $139,500. Okay the sun may still be hidden behind the mountain, but believe me it is peeking through. Now you find the home you really want to buy. In 2007 it was valued at $325,000. Take into consideration a price drop of seven percent that home is now valued at $302,250—a savings of $22,750! Now the sun is coming up! So the answer to the question: Is now the time to make the move? Given the fact that interest rates are low, it could very well be the perfect time. So checkout our open houses this weekend and be sure the new home has the features you have been missing—because the sun is definitely rising! See you soon!
